Google Internet Maps Provide New Virtual World
Most people are completely unaware of the ways that the internet is changing
our world and the emerging technologies that are popping up everyday. One such
amazing emerging technology is internet maps, specifically Google Earth and
Windows Live local. Satellite internet maps are incredibly useful for finding locations quickly or
exploring new locations. These aren’t run of the mill maps like you see on
mapquest, but satellite image driven maps that allow you to explore anywhere in
the world in just a few seconds. Want to check out what Iraq looks like
overhead? No problem. Just type in Iraq into the Google EArth internet maps
application and it will take you there .
The satellite map is presented to me in vivid detail. Some innovative users
have already begun using these satellite maps to advertise their products and
services and Google Earth is all set to become the best known example of
collaborative satellite map technology in the world.
Just recently I had read that National Geographic is going to provide links
to video and imagery taken from various parts of the world. Other companies are
combining google earth with other applications, such as real estate listings to
provide incredibly rich and useful applications.
