Indiana Jones is unquestionably the greatest action hero in films and on dvd. Indiana Jones, played by actor Harrison Ford, was first introduced in the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark. Indiana Jones is modeled after the square-jawed heroes of the pulp magazines and matinée serials such as Doc Savage. Director Steven Spielberg grew up watching the cliffhanging matinee adventures at his local movie house and wanted to re-create them in his trilogy of films featuring an archeology professor.

It all began in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ford is in a race with Nazis to find the Ark of the Covenant. It also featured Paul Freeman and Alfred Molina. This was followed three years later with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, when Ford searches for a mystical stone. This Indiana Jones dvd and film features Kate Capshaw and Amrish Puri.
The release of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989 was the third installment. This time, the quest is for the Holy Grail and Ford is once again, up against the Nazis. Sean Connery has lots of tongue in cheek fun playing Ford’s Dad and the late River Phoenix plays the professor as a young man. Sean Connery has announced he will not be returning for Indiana Jones 4.
