Why The Pomeranian Is A Favorite Dog Breed

The docile nature and affectionate temperament of this breed make it a fantastic choice for a show dog and pet. Showing exceptional independence for a Toy breed dogy, the Pomeranian has an alert and curious personality. It is the ideal dog if you live in an apartment. Though quite active indoors they do not need a yard to be exercised.

Pomeranian dogs are lively, intelligent and eager to learn as well as very loyal to those who have them. On the other hand, they can sometimes be tempermental, willful and bold. While Poms are quite adept at learning tricks, you do need to train them with kind firmness or they might think they are the boss.

The Pomeranian breed can be prone to skin problems, slipped stifle, heart problems, eye infections and dislocated patella. They also have problems with their teeth so you must brush the teeth at home as well as see the vet yearly for a cleaning.
The Pomeranian dogs crowning glory is his double coat which does require daily grooming. The coat should be brushed forward, starting at the head and parting it as you go. The undercoat which has a cottony feel sheds usually once or twice a year. It is also important that the Pomeranians eyes and ears are cleaned on a daily basis.
