Okay. Maybe the paper folding art of twisting and folding cash isn’t so basic from one perspective. But, on the other hand, it is one of the more common and popular forms of Origami (or oragami if you like to twang). Maybe getting some of those big bills that some countries use would make it easier 
Anyway, Yes, you can use money for Origami. And, it is essentially very basic.
