What Causes Hair Loss And What Is The Treatment?
In order to understand hair loss treatments, the causes of hair loss must also be understood. The primary cause of hair loss among many adults is the disturbance of growth cycles of the hair. You see, hair growth has two stages, mainly the growth phase and the resting phase. Because of the extreme stress or due to extreme illness, a considerable part of the hair may remain in the resting phase. And when new hairs begin to start growing they inevitably push out the old hair and the result is a falling of hair.
Don’t get too worked up though. In two or three months, new hairs will grow back and the hair becomes thick once more. So don’t worry. This is not a permanent problem and everybody experiences this disorder at some point in their adult life.
Hair loss isn’t caused by stress alone though. Hormonal changes can also influence hair loss, and this is especially true among men. This is usually caused by a by-product of the hormone testosterone known as DHT. When there is an abundance of this hormone, a DHT imbalance occurs and causes more hair loss problems.
Medication can also cause hair loss, especially medication like blood thinners, antidepressants and medication used in chemotherapy. Their effects are temporary though and your hair can begin to grow back after you stop taking the medication.
And lastly, it’s important to accept that 95% of all cases of baldness among older people are caused by genetics. So hair loss treatment has its limits, especially if the cause is genetic.
