Apothecary Jar Gardens

I have always thought of apothecary jars as a great storage place for my cotton ball, Q-tips, candles, bath salts, decorative soaps and my make up brushes but I never thought to create a garden in one. Last night I was surfing and found this site about apothecary jars and it mentioned creating apothecary jar gardens. This intrigued me so I read on.

It mentioned how the jars allowed for full light which offers a wonderful place for many plants to thrive. Naturally, this makes sense but I sure would not have thought of apothecary jars as a mini greenhouse. The different shapes and sizes you can find apothecary jars allows for some stylish Jar Gardens. As for supplies, the list was short and simple. Green moss, pebbles and a little soil is all you need. Of course since it’s your creation, do what you like. I got a tropical plant for mine and the best part is limited watering is needed because if you keep the lid on the jar will retain moisture. If your jar begins to fog, simply take the lid off for a short time until the moisture evaporates. Only one word of warning, keep out of direct sunlight because direct sun will cause intense heat and burn your plant.

Good Luck!
