The Pentium 4 Motherboard
The motherboard is the main circuit board in your PC. Practically all the components at some point are connected and must communicate through the motherboard. Connections to the motherboard are either through one of its many ports or by having them plugged directly into it. Consider it as one big highway that provides the platform for all other components and peripherals to talk to each other. There are however many types of motherboards and the type of motherboard that you buy will depend on the CPU or processor that it was designed to use. Motherboards are categorized by their socket types with the common ones being Socket A and Socket 478. Remember that once you buy a motherboard, it will house the processor type designed for it and will not be interchangeable.
