Number Of Obese Children Scary!
Internationally many are looking to the governments to step in and help in Childhood Obesity, children are overweight or obese before they are reach school age and parents seem to be doing so little in many counts regarding our children’s health.
Health experts say the high number of very young stout children is “scary” and the Government is doing no part to reverse the trend. So from what I gather Governments are great at building reports and giving the nation stat’s but with the number of obese children this “scary” how should childhood obesity be tackled?
An influential report by three government watchdogs has said that red tape and a lack of leadership is jeopardising efforts to tackle Britain’s growing childhood obesity crisis. Two years has passed since ministers promised to halt the rise in the number of fat children, and they have yet to publish key parts of their plan to tackle the situation. It means that it will be years before children are even routinely weighed and measured.
Is the Government’s inaction failing our children?
Should the government really be the leaders in this fight?
On a personal note yes I feel the government needs to get involved only because it is so out of hand but how do you enforce a healthy nation? what happens if the data and stat’s get worse and worse till what, will parents be charged based on their child’s eating habits? I read one count in the USA were a mother was charged for child abuse for allowing her son to get too fat. I know this may be a single extreme case but what would the health implications be in our children’s lives. The death toll each year rises but we have so many different names to why they died, It was a heart attack, a stroke or cancer to name a few but was this really the cause or was it because of obesity?
The sad fact is we all know this stuff but in my viewpoint we don’t want to interfear in someone elses personal space by discussing the weight condition of our friends and family.
