Thermal Transfer Label
The thermal transfer label when doing thermal transfer printing. This is one of two methods of thermal printing methods, the other being direct thermal printing.
The use of thermal transfer label is prefered over direct thermal label as it lasts longer. The thermal transfer printing method uses the thermal printing ribbon. The thermal printhead applies heat to the ribbon, which then melts the ink onto the label to form the image. In this way, the ink is absorbed and becomes part of the media, hence producing in better quality and durability.
This also makes its possible for the thermal transfer label to be made of a wider variety of media.
Although use of thermal trransfer label with the thermal transfer printers are more costly then direct thermal printing, if the requirements are for durability and ability to last for long periods, then thermal transfer printing will be the option to choose.
