What you should expect during pregnancy

So you got a positive on your pregnancy test, and now you wonder what to expect during pregnancy? Pregnancy is commonly divided in to three trimesters. The first trimester starts with conceiving and ends at week 12-13. This trimester is well known for the morning sickness that most women experience during this period. It actually isn’t a “morning” sickness per se, as it can occur any time during the day. Other than nausea, you will probably feel your breast becoming more tender and sore. This is normal for the weeks leading up to the next trimester.

The second trimester of pregnancy is often the easiest trimester for many women. They feel energized and stronger, and this can be a great occasion to look at your workout routine and diet, to check that you are getting the necessary training and nutrients for you and your baby. It is smart to do this now, because later on you will probably not be motivated if you don’t have a base to work from.

The final trimester is often the most difficult one. You are close to giving birth to a living being, that weighs a considerable amount, and just walking around will feel tiring. You might also have a hard time sleeping at night because of the discomfort your tummy gives you. Swelling of the ankles is also a common symptom of this trimester.

It is important that you have a good dialogue with your doctor throughout your pregnancy. If you ever feel that something isn’t as it should be, pick up the phone and give him or her a call. Or better yet, give your doctor a visit, and stretch those legs while your at it.
