Throwing a Fantasy Football Draft Party
When a bunch of guys get together to talk football usually all you need to keep everyone happy is pizza and beer. But, since it actually involves work, a successful fantasy football draft party has a few more important parts.
Set up a large space with enough seating for everyone in your league. Comfortable seating like recliners or couches is a plus, but kitchen chairs will do in a pinch. If you’re planning to seat your members in a living room or den rather than at a table, provide clipboards to serve as writing surfaces. Be aware that some of your members may arrive with laptop computers so providing work surfaces like portable tables is a good idea. Of course you’ll also need adequate outlets nearby in case anyone needs to plug in.
Collect enough pencils for everyone in your league plus a few extras. Someone always shows up with nothing to write with. Small pads for taking notes can also be helpful. Print out enough draft sheets for each member, being sure to make a few extras.

Do you remember the famous movie of the early 80s “the Blues Brothers” with Dan Aykroyd and the late John Belushi. The two heroes were able to overcome all the obstacles in their way and to avoid their pursuers until the last scene of the film. “They’ll never get caught. They’re on a mission from God” was the tagline of the film. The current Brazilian national soccer team, which plays at the World Cup in Germany, reminded me of the Blues Brothers. Although they prefer samba music to blues, they seem to be unstoppable and although they are not on a mission from God their religiosity is obvious.
The Brazilian players often pray and some of them wear T-shirts with religious slogans under their uniforms. Lucio, one of the team’s best defenders was wearing a T-shirt with the message «Jesus loves you» in last World Cup’s final game in Yokohama. Kaka, a talented midfielder wears similar T-shirts, while Ze Roberto another midfielder according to the Columbian newspaper “El Pais” plans to become a pastor of the Evangelical Church. Another Brazilian, Luis Felipe Scolari, who is the coach of the national team of Portugal, has chosen for his team a training center in Marienfeld close to a 12th-century monastery, in order for him to visit it every morning and pray.

Aikman, White to Hall of Fame
NFL greats Troy Aikman and the late Reggie White headlined a full class of six inductees into this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame that was announced last February. It was called the most emotional announcement of a Pro Football Hall of Fame class in history. The formal induction ceremony of the class into the Hall of Fame will be on August 5.
The other members of this year’s class are Harry Carson, John Madden, Warren Moon and Rayfield Wright. With six people being inducted this year, this class is also the biggest ever inducted since 2001.

My son came home from school excited about the summer job he had found. He was going to be coaching basketball for the summer. He has played since he was a young boy, but coaching was going to be a new undertaking for him. My husband asked him what kind of style he was going to use in coaching basketball.
